Christa Durand is a visual artist born in Paris in 1989. Since childhood, cameras have been the tool of choice for adventures and creativity for her and her brothers, whether they grew up in Auvergne, New Caledonia or Morocco, to the rhythm of the missions of a solar-energy engineering father.
In video as in documentary, Christa’s films were bursting with temporalities and fictions that compose us. Her abyssal and dynamic compositions gave pride of place to the urgency and minimalism of a techno track. Whether subjective, dreamlike or even voyeuristic, the lens explores these intervening spaces where Me and Self confront each other. An avoid follower of the cinemas of Robert Bresson and Kim Ki-duk, Christa takes care to capture the flash of an underground work with naturalness and spontaneity.
